BEGINNERS GUIDE TO INTERMITTENT FASTING

Intermittent fasting is currently one of the more popularized styles of eating, (maybe a close 2nd behind the keto diet). Essentially, intermittent fasting is just a long period of not eating, with a relatively short overall eating window. That’s pretty much it… Contrary to popular belief, intermittent fasting won't make you magically lose weight. It does however, make it easier to consume less total calories for the day, which helps to create a calorie deficit. For our purposes, we will look at the Lean Gains approach to intermittent fasting. Think about it…if you're feeding window is from 12-8pm, you are essentially skipping breakfast, which may help you to save 500 or so calories. Also, if you stop eating around 8pm, you will minimize the late night snacking that also adds a few extra calories onto your total for the day. An intermittent fasting approach can also be very satiating due to the larger meal sizes in shorter periods of time, which can be a big benefit in terms of controlling hunger. These two factors combined can make creating and sticking to a calorie deficit much easier! Remember, there's nothing magical about intermittent fasting. It's just a different style of eating that some people prefer & can stick to. I will say, if your goal is to build muscle (rather than lose fat), I’d probably recommend a different eating style to allow more frequent protein dosing. But other than that, if it fits your lifestyle, works for you, and you enjoy it, then go for it! -share with someone that needs to hear this! #nutrition #johor #coach #caloriecounting #intermittentfasting #fit
